The Political Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance held a meeting with the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires to Yemen, Zhao Qing. This meeting continues the communication that the Embassy of the People's Republic of China is keen to maintain with all Yemeni circles as part of its commitment to achieving peace and stability in Yemen.
At the outset, the President of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, and his colleagues in the leadership were affirmed in meeting with His Excellency the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires. They expressed their deep interest in the remarkable efforts made by the Chargé d'Affaires and the embassy staff to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and friendship and demonstrate support from the friendly People's Republic of China to the Yemeni people in these difficult circumstances.
The meeting addressed the current situation, the Council's position on efforts to achieve peace, and the impact of recent regional developments on the future of Yemen. Part of the meeting focused on the great inspiration China's experience represents for humanity, at a time when the Supreme Council of Popular Resistance believes it is necessary to maximize its benefits in all areas to fulfill the need for reconstruction and address the enormous challenges left behind by years of war in Yemen.
The meeting discussed opportunities for an upcoming visit by the Supreme Council of Popular Resistance to China, to enrich its comprehensive experience at all levels. It also focused on the impact of knowledge of the Chinese experience on the Council's important local activities, particularly in the field of humanitarian aid and supporting initiatives that contribute to mitigating the effects of the war.
For his part, the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires welcomed this visit and the visits of Yemeni figures to China, which contribute to the continuation and deepening of the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The Chinese Chargé d'Affaires affirmed his country's support for Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, and its support for achieving peace as soon as possible. He reiterated China's support for the mission of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and its efforts with all Yemeni parties to bring them to the negotiating table, end the war, and begin the reconstruction process. He also affirmed China's support for the political process, which he emphasized must be implemented through Yemeni leaders. He expressed his country's keenness to deepen relations between the two countries in all fields, noting the recent steps taken in this regard, including zeroing customs duties on Yemeni goods exported to China, allowing more high-quality Yemeni products to enter China, in addition to the large package of humanitarian aid provided to Yemen, along with the constructive steps taken to enhance cultural cooperation.
