The Women's Department of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance organizes a workshop to emphasize women's role in liberation and state-building

The Women's Department of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance organized a workshop on Saturday and Sunday entitled "Empowering Women in Resistance: Between Reality and Hope." The workshop was held at the headquarters of the Council's General Secretariat in Taiz, with broad participation from female leaders.


The workshop addressed a number of issues related to the role of women and their priorities at the current stage, most notably their effective contribution to the battle for liberation and reconstruction, and pressure to provide basic services, thus strengthening their presence as genuine partners in the national struggle.


In his speech, Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, head of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, welcomed the participants, emphasizing that their presence reflects a growing awareness of the importance of women's role in liberation and state-building. He praised the early and prominent role of women in supporting the popular resistance, morally, on the ground, and humanitarianly, which made their presence a milestone in the popular resistance.


 Sheikh Al-Mikhlafi pointed out that the current phase requires revitalizing the popular resistance in all its components, giving women a broader space to participate and influence the battle for awareness and to strengthen societal resilience.


For his part, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, Mr. Mohammed Azzam, welcomed the participants, praising women and their active role. He introduced the Supreme Council as a unifying framework for the resistance, which has been launched in most governorates in defense of the Republic and the popular will in the face of the Houthi coup. He noted that the Council's goal is "a liberated Yemen and a strong state."


The head of the Women's Sector in the Supreme Command of the Council, Dr. Nabila Saeed, emphasized the need to revive the spirit of the women resistance and enhance their effectiveness in the coming phase, emphasizing that Yemeni women are capable of mobilizing society and championing national causes from various positions.


The head of the Women's Department, Awsan Mohammed, spoke about the reality of women resistance under the current circumstances and the importance of networking among female leaders.


 Ms. Iman Al-Nahari, the Women's Department Coordinator, emphasized that the workshop was extremely positive and succeeded in formulating shared visions focused on two primary goals: liberation and state-building.


The workshop included a working paper on mechanisms to strengthen women's leadership in society and expand their participation in decision-making and state-building. Another paper addressed the challenges facing women leaders in a conflict environment and how to overcome them.


For their part, the participants praised the efforts of the popular resistance, appreciating the significant roles played by Yemeni women in various stages of the national struggle, considering them indispensable partners in confronting challenges and raising awareness. They emphasized that women's sacrifices and resilience during the years of war constitute a national asset parallel to the sacrifices of men on the battlefield.


They also discussed the priorities of women in the resistance in the coming period, foremost among them strengthening their active presence in the awareness arena and pressuring local authorities in the governorate and higher authorities to fulfill their responsibilities in providing basic needs and essential services to citizens, thus alleviating people's suffering and strengthening their confidence in the state project.
