The President of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance meets the Head of the European Union Mission to Yemen

The President of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, met with the Head of the European Union Mission to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Vinales.

During the meeting via video call, the President of the Council praised the role played by the European Union in supporting peace in Yemen, and looked forward to a more influential role in stimulating efforts made in the humanitarian field and the participation of the Council's concerned institutions in a way that alleviates the suffering of the Yemeni people after ten years of war.

Sheikh Al-Mikhlafi provided an overview of the Supreme Council and its role in confronting the coup plotters, and its full keenness to restore the state and protect national unity and the political identity of the regime and national partnership, within a peace process based on the agreed-upon references supported by the international community.

For his part, the Head of the European Union Mission expressed his happiness at meeting the President of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, which he said comes within the framework of his keenness to meet with the main actors on the Yemeni scene.

Ambassador Vinals confirmed the European Union's support for the Presidential Leadership Council led by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, the Union's keenness to unify the military and security structures of legitimacy, and its condemnation of the destabilizing activity of the Houthi group and the violations committed by this group, including the arrests of employees of international organizations and diplomatic missions.
