The Resistance Forum Hosts Journalist and Diplomat Jamal An'am to Discuss the Reality and Prospects of the Popular Resistance

Taiz: Exclusive

The Resistance Forum in Taiz hosted journalist and diplomat Jamal An'am in a symposium characterized by intellectual richness and a combative spirit, titled "Popular Resistance: Challenges of the Present and Prospects for the Future."

The forum, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council of the Popular Resistance, witnessed a large turnout, including resistance leaders, wounded, journalists, activists, and educators, giving the meeting a distinctive character.

An'am began his speech by praising the city of Taiz, the popular resistance, and its legendary steadfastness, describing Taiz as an "inspiring story." He also addressed the active role of the popular resistance, emphasizing that its heroes bore great burdens at critical moments, that great missions choose their men, and that great men find themselves in great tasks.

He pointed out that Taiz had been a "betting horse" from the beginning, and that Sheikh Hamoud Saeed Al-Mikhlafi, one of the founding fathers of this spirit, was at the forefront of the resistance. He explained that the initial confrontations determined Taiz's fate. While the Houthis controlled several governorates with their military forces, they mobilized 13 brigades against Taiz, defeating them all. This is because Taiz "is not easy," a governorate steeped in sacrifices and struggles.

The writer and diplomat An'am highlighted the importance of the issue of martyrs and wounded, considering that "martyrs represent vigilance, alertness, and an immortal homeland," and that the wounds of the wounded are "glorious and valiant." He added, "We belong to these wounds, we belong to the souls of the wounded, and we must rise in our treatment of them to the level of their greatness."

He emphasized that more important than sacrifices is preserving them and their gains, adding that true leaders are those who create "meaning" for the continuity of the struggle, because when meaning is lost, morale falls and the voice of suffering rises.  An'am added, "As we wage war, our options may seem limited, but the bet is that we are capable of creating new options and formulating equations that befit us as champions of a cause."

He expressed his admiration for the discourse of the popular resistance, calling for preserving the spirit of resistance and invoking it everywhere, and continuing to engage with everyone.

Writer Jamal An'am emphasized that "as long as we continue to carry the torch, as long as our hearts are filled with certainty, our souls are healthy, as long as we are haunted by this splendor, filled with these sacrifices, and looking up, we will remain capable of performing miracles and standing at the highest peaks."

The forum witnessed interventions from attendees that emphasized the effective role of the popular resistance and the need to return it to the forefront, as it represents the popular will. They called for the continuation of such forums and meetings that contribute to renewing resolve and the spirit of resistance and strengthening national awareness.
